The Regional District is proposing to introduce new policies to the Electoral Area “G” Official Community Plan (OCP) Bylaw No. 2975, 2022 in relation to supporting the identification and establishment of a Watershed Resource Area (WRA) zone in the Electoral Area “G” Zoning Bylaw No. 2781, 2017.

The proposed OCP policies generally relate to the maintenance and management of local water quality and quantity within the WRA Zone, supports maintaining the lands as large parcels (i.e., minimum of 120 hectares) with limited permitted uses, and discouraging activities which may have detrimental impacts (i.e., intensive recreation, subdivision, and rezoning).

The WRA Zone is proposed to be applied to Provincial Crown lands which are located within community watersheds within the electoral area which are designated under the Forest and Range Practices Act (i.e., Crown lands within the Olalla Community Watershed; see figure below).
