Protection of Farming Development Permit (PFDP) Area

The Regional District has implemented a Protection of Farming Development Permit (PFDP) Area in Electoral Area “C” (Oliver Rural) on those lands adjacent to the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR).

The primary objective of the PFDP Area is to reduce conflicts between agricultural practices and other “non-farm” uses by requiring that new subdivision layouts and new building proposals incorporate landscape and siting buffers to ensure an adequate separation from adjacent ALR lands.

Authority to approve PFDP applications has been delegated by the Regional District Board to staff.  The DP process requires an application fee, completed application form and the provision of buffering in accordance with the guidelines contained in the Electoral Area “C” Official Community Plan (OCP) Bylaw.

To complete an application, please fill out the Development Permit Application Form.
