Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 452 of the Local Government Act that the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen Board of Directors will be considering whether the South Okanagan Sub-Regional Growth Strategy (RGS) Bylaw No. 2770, 2017, should be reviewed. The RGS Bylaw was adopted in 2010 and is a partnership between the Regional District, the City of Penticton, the Town of Oliver, the Town of Osoyoos, and the District of Summerland to manage growth in the South Okanagan in manner that is consistent with long‐term social, environmental and economic objectives. Having adopted an RGS Bylaw, the Regional District is required to consider, “at least once every 5 years … whether the regional growth strategy must be reviewed for possible amendment.” Further, in considering whether to review the RGS, the Regional District “must provide an opportunity for input on the need for review from the persons, organizations and authorities” it considers may be affected by the regional growth strategy. As 2025 marks five year since the RDOS Board last considered whether the RGS required amendment, the Regional District is pleased to extend this opportunity for input from residents on whether a new review is now required. (NOTE: the RGS Review initiated by the Board in 2020 remains on-going). All comments should be submitted to the Regional District by 4:00 p.m. on November 17, 2025, in one of the following forms:
Additional information regarding the South Okanagan Regional Growth Strategy Bylaw can be found at the Regional District’s web site: www.rdos.bc.ca (Property & Development → Planning, Zoning & Subdivision → Regional Growth Strategy), or at the Regional District office. Written comments received by the Regional District by the deadline will be considered by the Regional District Board at a forthcoming meeting (date to be determined). |
