Mariposa Park stairs replacement project will improve park access
News ArticleINFORMATION RELEASE
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is moving forward with improvements to Mariposa Park in Electoral Area “F”. The project will improve access between the tennis court area, upper park amenities, and lower walking paths while enhancing safety, functionality, and overall accessibility for park users.
Work will include:
- Removal and disposal of the existing landscape stairs
- Removal of the existing wooden retaining wall
- Construction of new landscape stairs
- Extension of the stair system to connect with the lower park pathway
- Construction of a new asphalt pathway connecting the stairs to the existing pathway network
- Site grading and earthworks
- Installation of signage and other appropriate safety measures during construction
Construction is anticipated to be completed by late fall 2026, subject to contractor scheduling and weather conditions. Temporary access restrictions within the project area may be required during construction to ensure public safety. Park users are asked to use caution and follow all on-site signage and safety precautions.
The RDOS would like to acknowledge the Electoral Area "F" West Bench Parks and Recreation Commission for its support of the project. The commission reviewed and prioritized improvements identified through the Mariposa Park Master Plan and helped advance enhancements that improve accessibility, safety, and visitor experience within the park.
The RDOS thanks residents and visitors for their patience and cooperation as these important improvements are completed.
