The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) issued a Wildfire Advisory on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 5:00 pm for wildfire K61957 located at Red Creek in Electoral Area “H”, east of Princeton, north of Old Hedley Road and Highway 3. BC Wildfire Service is responding, and the RDOS EOC is continuing to monitor. For current wildfire information, visit the BC Wildfire Service website.

The Emergency Support Services (ESS) Reception Centre at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre will conclude in-person operations at 4:00 pm on Friday, August 28, 2026. Residents who require assistance can continue to contact ESS by phone at 250-486-1890, available daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Additional details about ongoing support services will be shared as they become available.
Residents returning to areas previously under an Evacuation Order are encouraged to review the re-entry guide for important information and resources, including:
- Checking your property for potential hazards
- Next steps if you have a well or private water system
- Safe disposal of food and damaged appliances
- Accessing available support services and recovery information
Important reminders
- Recovery operations remain ongoing throughout the area.
- Spot fires, smoke and reduced air quality may still occur.
- Residents may encounter emergency personnel, utility crews, and recovery teams working in the community.
Please note that Faulder remains under an Evacuation Order. Access restrictions remain in place, and only authorized personnel and approved permit holders may enter the area. Security personnel will remain in the Faulder area to support access restrictions and protect the community. Food, fridge, and freezer disposal
The District of Summerland is providing a free drop-off location at the Dale Meadows Sports Field gravel parking lot from Tuesday, August 25 to Saturday, August 29, 2026. Hours will be 8:30 am to 4:15 pm. All food waste, debris, and other contents must be removed before appliances can be accepted.
Summerland Recovery Centre
Residents affected by recent emergency events can access information, resources, and recovery support at the Summerland Recovery Centre. The centre is located on the second floor of the George Ryga Arts and Cultural Centre (9525 Wharton Street) and is open daily from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Please note that the hours for the Recovery Information Centre for Tuesday, August 25 and Wednesday, August 26 are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
