Kilpoola FireSmart Chipping Event and Community BBQ – September 28, 2025

INFORMATION RELEASE

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) and FireSmart are facilitating a chipping event and community BBQ in Kilpoola on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Residents are encouraged to participate by removing flammable materials from their properties and placing debris piles at the end of their driveways for pick-up. The RDOS-sponsored mobile chipper will begin circulating the neighbourhood at approximately 10:00 am.

Accepted materials:

  • Branches, trees, and twigs up to 8" in diameter
  • Shrubs and bushes (e.g., cedars or junipers) with no roots attached

Not accepted:

  • Raked pine needles or leaves (please bag and dispose as yard waste)
  • Roots, grass, vines, weeds
  • Dirt, rocks, construction, or wood waste
  • General household garbage

The community BBQ will also begin at 10:00 am, located at the information booth near the community bulletin board (Post Box site on Richter Pass).
