INFORMATION RELEASE 

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is focused on the continued delivery of safe, reliable, and professional fire protection services and recognizes the important role that volunteer firefighters play in protecting lives and property throughout the region.

While some residents may have questions and concerns regarding recent employment-related decisions within RDOS fire departments, employment matters are confidential and cannot be discussed publicly. The RDOS remains committed to transparency, accountability, and ensuring residents have access to information about the fire protection services that help keep communities safe.

"Protecting the community remains our highest priority," said RDOS Chief Administrative Officer Jim Zaffino. "We understand that residents may have questions about recent events, and we believe this information session will provide an opportunity to learn more about how RDOS fire protection services operate and how we work to support the safety and well-being of our communities."

To help residents better understand how fire protection services are delivered, the RDOS will host an online public information session on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The session will provide an overview of RDOS fire protection services, including emergency preparedness, response operations, governance, and the roles and responsibilities that support fire service delivery across the region.
