INFORMATION RELEASE      

The RDOS Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) would like to thank residents, volunteers, and emergency responders for their patience, support, and cooperation as response efforts continue for the Bald Range Wildfire (K51490). The EOC also recognizes the dedication of firefighters, Emergency Support Services (ESS) responders, and other emergency personnel, many of whom are themselves under Evacuation Orders or Alerts. Their commitment and sacrifices are deeply appreciated as they work to keep residents safe. 

Latest update 

  • An Evacuation Order was issued August 9, 2026, at 11:00 am for Brent Lake, Shingle Creek Area (Electoral Area “F”).  
  • The Comfort Centre for evacuees is open now at Princess Margaret Secondary School, 120 Green Ave. W., Penticton. Space is available for anyone with trailers or campers to park at this location. 
  • Residents are reminded to obey all road closures, evacuation orders, alerts, and posted signage. Do not enter restricted areas or active fire zones, as doing so may place your safety and the safety of the emergency responders at risk who are working tirelessly to fight this fire.  
  • Stay informed. If you are a resident under an Evacuation Alert or Order, please click here to register for routine and emergency notifications from the RDOS via email, text, or phone through Voyent Alert!.

  • The entire District of Summerland is on Evacuation Order (5,688 properties)

Residents under an evacuation order should leave their properties immediately to keep safe. 

Residents under an evacuation order must evacuate to the evacuee reception centres located at:  

  1. Penticton Trade and Convention Centre, 273 Power Street, Penticton 
  1. Westbank Lions Community Hall, 2466 Main Street, West Kelowna 
  1. Chilliwack Reception Centre, 44680 Scheyey Rd, Chilliwack (10:00 am – 6:00 pm)

Residents under an Evacuation Order should register for Emergency Support Services (ESS) even if they don’t require specific supports.  

Do not use Forest Service Roads to evacuate. Forest Service Road 201 is open for passenger vehicles travelling between Penticton and Kelowna. Do not rely on Google Maps; it may lead you into the fire boundaries.  For more information on highways and roads, please visit DriveBC.ca.
