RDOS seeks input on draft Solid Waste Management Plan

The Regional District of Okanagan‑Similkameen (RDOS) is seeking input on its draft Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP). Public consultation will take place throughout March and April 2026. A schedule of in-person and online meetings will be posted on the SWMP project page in the coming weeks.
The SWMP outlines the region’s long-term approach to waste reduction, recycling, organics, and overall solid waste management for the next decade. On January 22, 2026, the RDOS Board of Directors unanimously approved a motion to seek input from the public and interested or affected parties on the draft SWMP.
Who is invited to participate?
- RDOS residents
- Member municipalities
- First Nations communities
- Businesses and community organizations operating within the RDOS
Your feedback will help shape the SWMP and ensure it reflects community priorities for waste reduction, recycling, organics, and long-term service planning.
How to participate
- Attend an upcoming public meeting (details will be posted on the SWMP project page)
- Review the draft SWMP materials on the project page
- Provide written feedback using the online comment form available on the project page
