RDOS recognizes National Volunteer Week

INFORMATION RELEASE

National Volunteer Week takes place from April 14 to 20, 2024 and the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is extending gratitude and appreciation to all volunteers. RDOS volunteers contribute their time, skills, and enthusiasm across a spectrum of initiatives. From arts, culture, and sports, to the meticulous planning of FireSmart strategies and the stewardship of RDOS parks and recreation spaces, volunteers are making a difference in the region.

“The RDOS recognizes the invaluable contributions of Emergency Support Services (ESS) volunteers who provide critical assistance during emergencies and the volunteers who support the RDOS fire departments,” said Mark Pendergraft, RDOS Chair. “Your generosity, kindness, and commitment to your community is appreciated.”

The RDOS offers many volunteer opportunities spanning multiple departments and various committees including Community Champions who help share accurate and timely information from the RDOS within their communities.

Volunteering has many benefits, including work experience, physical activity, and community engagement, and is instrumental in advancing RDOS Recreation’s mission of fostering “Healthy Individuals and Communities.”
