PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING - Bald Range Wildfire Updates - Official Community Plan & Zoning Bylaw Amendments

Description:

Official Community Plan (OCP) and zoning bylaw amendments are being sought in order to support wildfire recovery efforts by streamlining the development approval processes involved in site remediation and the reconstruction of buildings and structures damaged and destroyed due to the Bald Range Wildfire.

 

Amendment Bylaw No. 3169, 2026, proposes to: 

  • amend the Electoral Area “F” OCP Bylaw No. 2790, 2018, to remove the Environmentally Sensitive Development Permit (ESDP) Area designation from all parcels within the area of the Bald Range Wildfire, and   

  • amend the Electoral Area “A”, “C”, “D”, “E”, “F”, “H”, and “I” OCP bylaws to introduce a new exemption criterion for Watercourse Development Permits (WDPs) in order to allow property owners to undertake site remediation activities that are typically required to occur following a wildfire event.  

 

Amendment Bylaw No. 2800.69, 2026, proposes to: 

  • introduce a temporary exemption applicable to parcels within the area of the Bald Range Wildfire to allow for the placement of an “accessory building or structure” prior to the establishment of, or issuance of a building permit for, a principal building, and 

  • add a new Schedule ‘7’ to the Okanagan Valley Zoning Bylaw No. 2800, 2022, to delineate the area of the Bald Range Wildfire.
