Pioneer Park Development Plan | Septic System Replacement Project

News Article

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is starting work on a multi-phased park development project at Pioneer Park in Kaleden in Electoral Area “I”. The next phase of this project will involve the replacement of the aging septic system infrastructure and the removal of the concrete pad adjacent to the washroom building.

The washrooms and surrounding area will be temporarily closed during construction which is scheduled to take place between Wednesday, November 15, and Friday, December 9, 2022. Upon completion of the 2022 construction phase, the washroom will be reopened to the public.

Areas impacted by the concrete pad removal will be safely cordoned off for the next several months in preparation for the 2023 construction phase. This phase of the project, which is partially grant-funded, is expected to begin in spring 2023 and will focus on upgrades to the pathway and improved accessibility measures.

“Upgrading amenities and improving accessibility are important steps to ensuring the community can enjoy Pioneer Park for years to come,” said Subrina Monteith, Electoral Area “I” Director. Pioneer Park will be an active construction zone, and the RDOS is reminding residents and visitors to use caution and respect all site signage. This will help ensure the safety of the public and construction crews.
