Electoral Area “E” Naramata Parkland Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 2918, 2020

News Article

The alternative approval process (AAP) for Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) Electoral Area “E” Naramata Parkland Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 2918, 2020, concluded on February 8, 2021. The RDOS received fewer than ten (10) Elector Response Forms from qualified electors in the designated service area.

An AAP requires 10 percent (173) or more of the qualified electors to sign and submit response forms in opposition to the proposed initiative to require the RDOS to obtain assent of the electors in order to proceed. The RDOS Board will discuss the results of the AAP at the February 18, 2021 board meeting.

Next steps for consideration:

  • Authorize the Regional District to borrow up to $900,000 to acquire the property for parkland
  • The property would become part of the Electoral Area “E” Recreation Programming, Parks and Facility Maintenance Service

Naramata Centre Beach is currently private property but would become an outdoor community recreation and beachfront amenity.
