Feedback sought for draft Greater West Bench Age-Friendly Assessment and Plan

News Article

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is inviting the residents of Electoral Area “F” to review and provide feedback on the draft Greater West Bench Age-Friendly Assessment and Plan.

The RDOS retained Urban Systems Ltd. in July 2020 to assist with undertaking this work upon receipt of funding through the Union of BC Municipalities Age-Friendly Communities grant.

With a population of roughly 2,000 residents, Greater West Bench is a rural community located within Electoral Area “F” in the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS). With 43% of residents in Greater West Bench aged 55 and older, and anticipating this number will continue to increase, the RDOS has undertaken an age-friendly planning process for the community to ensure that Greater West Bench will be a neighbourhood where all demographic groups have the ability to age-in-place.

This draft age-friendly assessment and plan is a result of community engagement activities which included consultation with Greater West Bench community members and stakeholders.

The draft document is available for review on the RDOS Regional Connections website, where residents can complete a feedback form and share their thoughts about proposed plan. Feedback forms will be available until Monday, February 15 at 11:59 pm PST.
