RDOS Board approves comprehensive review of Fire Services
News ArticleINFORMATION RELEASE
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) Board of Directors has approved a comprehensive review of RDOS Fire Services.
The review will provide an opportunity to examine the current delivery of fire services and help inform their future direction across the Regional District.
As an important first step, all RDOS Fire Chiefs will be invited to provide input into the scope of the review. Their operational experience and perspective will help ensure the review considers the key priorities, challenges, and opportunities facing RDOS Fire Services.
Once the scope has been finalized, the RDOS will issue a Request for Proposals to engage a qualified independent consultant to undertake the review.
“The Board is committed to an objective and comprehensive review that will help inform the future direction of RDOS Fire Services,” said RDOS Chief Administrative Officer Jim Zaffino. “It is important that RDOS Fire Chiefs have an opportunity to provide input into the scope of the review. Their operational knowledge and experience will be valuable as we move through this process.”
Following completion of the review, the recommendations will be presented to the RDOS Board of Directors for consideration. The RDOS Board intends to use the recommendations to establish a board policy that will provide clear direction for the governance, administration, and delivery of RDOS Fire Services going forward.
The review, together with the resulting Board Policy, will help support the long-term sustainability, effectiveness, consistency, and success of RDOS Fire Services.
