INFORMATION RELEASE

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) is working closely with provincial partners to support the safe return of Faulder and Meadow Valley residents as soon as conditions allow.

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation. 

Food, fridge, and freezer disposal

  • Residents who have returned home are encouraged to review the re-entry guide for information on food and appliance disposal.
  • The District of Summerland is providing a free drop-off location from Tuesday, August 25 to Saturday, August 29, 2026.
  • Location: Dale Meadows Sports Field gravel parking lot
  • Hours: 8:30 am to 4:15 pm
  • All food waste, debris, and other contents must be removed before appliances can be accepted for recycling.

Be aware of scams or fraudulent activity

Remain vigilant and be aware of potential scams or fraudulent activity during the wildfire response and recovery process.

  • Be cautious of unsolicited phone calls, emails, text messages, or social media messages requesting personal or financial information.
  • Do not provide banking, credit card, or other sensitive information to unknown individuals or organizations.
  • Verify the identity of anyone requesting donations, payments, or access to your property.
  • If you receive suspicious communications, do not engage and report the incident to the RCMP Non-Emergency Line.

If something does not seem right, take the time to verify the information before responding.
