Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan Survey now open
The Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan survey is now open. The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) wants to hear from residents about the impacts caused by wildfire in their communities and priorities for wildfire management.
Results from the survey will be considered during the development of the Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan (CWRP). The online survey contains 20 questions and will take 10-15 minutes to complete.
Please visit rdosregionalconnections.ca to take the survey.
Paper copies are available upon request. Please call RDOS Communications at 250-490-4148 or email communications@rdos.bc.ca.
The Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan survey is open until July 25, 2025.
Project background
A Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan funded by the Province of British Columbia's Community Resiliency Investment (CRI) program will assist with guiding priorities for managing wildfire risk. The Regional District is working with professional forestry consultants to create individual plans for Electoral Areas "B", "C", "D", "E", "F", "G", and "H". This project is being led by RDOS Emergency Services.
The project is expected to be completed in winter 2025, when the plans are reviewed by the RDOS Board of Directors. The CWRPs will support the FireSmart™ program and provide opportunities to enhance wildfire prevention, preparedness, and mitigation. CWRPs will address strategies for wildfire management only within the Electoral Areas "B", "C", "E", "F", "G", and "H". Incorporated municipalities and First Nation reserve lands are not within the scope of these plans.
