Electoral Area “D” Parks Plan open house and survey

News Article

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is launching the Electoral Area "D" Parks Plan project. The plan will provide a comprehensive blueprint for enhancing and developing parks and recreational spaces in Electoral Area “D”.

The Area "D" Parks Plan will encompass an extensive assessment of existing parks, facilities, and open spaces and will be developed through a collaborative effort involving community members, interested and affected parties, and local officials. Extensive data analysis, public engagement, and professional expertise will be used to create a plan that aligns with the community's needs, sustainability goals, and enhance the natural and cultural assets of the region.

“The plan aims to provide a clear vision and strategic direction for the development and improvement of parks, ensuring vibrant and inclusive outdoor spaces for residents and visitors alike,” said Matt Taylor, Electoral Area “D” Director.

To facilitate public involvement, and gather additional feedback on the proposed plan, the RDOS is hosting several public engagement initiatives, including open house events, a survey, and an online engagement project page on the RDOS Regional Connections interactive website.

The first open house event is planned for Thursday, July 6, 2023, between 6:00 and 8:00 pm at Okanagan Falls Elementary School Gym, 1141 Cedar Street, Okanagan Falls. Residents, park users, and other interested parties are invited to attend the open house and provide feedback.

An online survey will also be available on the RDOS Regional Connections interactive website. The survey opens Friday, July 7, 2023, and closes Friday, August 4, 2023. Paper copies can be sent via regular mail upon request and will be available for pick-up as of July 7, 2023, at the following locations:

  • RDOS Office, 101 Martin Street, Penticton
  • Okanagan Falls Recreation Centre, 1141 Cedar Street, Okanagan Falls
