EOC Update: RDOS taking proactive steps to address rainfall-related risks in Electoral Area “F”, Thursday, October 29, 2026, 2:00 pm
News ArticleINFORMATION RELEASE
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) continues to take proactive steps to monitor and mitigate potential risks in Electoral Area “F” as the region enters the wetter months.
Two geotechnical reports have been provided to residents in the affected area, and additional detailed assessment work is underway. Findings will be communicated directly to residents whose properties may be at increased risk. Several of the recommendations identified through the geotechnical work have already been completed or initiated by the RDOS or the responsible agency.
Following rainfall events, the RDOS works closely with the Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MOTT) and on-site security personnel to monitor conditions and identify new hazards. No impacts to properties within the RDOS were reported on October 28. Minor debris falls were reported and quickly cleared from roadways.
The RDOS will continue to alert residents when weather conditions may increase risk and coordinate with partner communities and agencies to help ensure important public safety information reaches those who may be affected. The RDOS is also procuring sand and sandbags for Electoral Area “F” residents to help mitigate potential rainfall-related impacts to properties.
Residents are responsible for filling and transporting their own sandbags.
The RDOS is reviewing the British Columbia Ministry of Forests Post-Wildfire Natural Hazard Risk Analysis report. Once the review is complete, relevant information will be shared directly with residents who may be affected.
The RDOS will provide an update during Regional Matters on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 2:00 pm, with information about ongoing recovery efforts and debris management on the RDOS YouTube Channel.
