RDOS to begin improvements to Fairview Townsite parking lot

INFORMATION RELEASE

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) will soon begin improvements to the parking lot at the historic Fairview Townsite in Electoral Area “C”.

The project, undertaken in collaboration with the Oliver and District Heritage Society, will improve safety, accessibility, and the overall visitor experience at the site. Located approximately 80 metres west of the intersection of Fairview Road and Willowbrook Road, the parking lot serves visitors accessing one of the South Okanagan's most significant historic destinations.

Planned improvements include expanding the parking area through site grading, resurfacing the lot with recycled asphalt, and installing parking stall curbs. The work will create a safer, more organized, and user-friendly parking area while supporting continued access to the Fairview Townsite.

To complete the work safely, the parking lot will be temporarily closed to vehicles during construction. Visitors are asked to respect all posted signage, barricades, and work zones.

While the parking lot is closed, parking will not be available within the lot. Roadside parking may still be available where space allows. Visitors are reminded to follow all posted signs and park only in designated areas.

The work is expected to begin this fall and, weather permitting, is anticipated to be completed by late fall 2026.

These improvements will help ensure visitors can continue to access and enjoy the Fairview Townsite safely while preserving and supporting this important cultural and historical destination for years to come.
