The Emergency Support Services (ESS) Reception Centre at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre will conclude in-person operations at 4:00 pm on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Residents who require assistance can continue to contact ESS by phone at 250-486-1890, available daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Additional details about ongoing support services will be shared as they become available.

BC Wildfire Service information opportunity

Residents are invited to speak directly with BC Wildfire Service staff about the Bald Range Wildfire response today, Tuesday, August 25, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Summerland Recovery Information Centre located at the George Ryga Arts & Cultural Centre.

This informal drop-in opportunity will allow residents to ask questions and receive information directly from BC Wildfire Service representatives. There will be no formal presentation, and community members are welcome to attend at any time during the scheduled two-hour session.

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) has downgraded the Evacuation Order to an Evacuation Alert for the following areas:

• Properties Bordering the Western Boundary of Electoral Area “F”
• Properties Bordering the Eastern Boundary of Electoral Area “H”, including 5723 Princeton-Summerland Rd

The RDOS EOC has also downgraded the Evacuation Alert to an Evacuation Rescind for the following areas:

• A portion of Callan Road (Excluding 365 and 351 Callan Road) in Electoral Area “F”
• Greata Ranch to Summerland Boundary on Highway 97 (excluding Callan Road)
• North Beach, West of Highway 97 to Summerland South Boundary
• Highway 97 from Pyramid Picnic Area to Summerland Boundary
• 23000 Gallaugher Street
• Greater West Bench and Kickininee Park in Electoral Area “F”
• Chain Lake, Bankeir, Link Lake, Osprey Lake, Mazama, Thirsk Lake in Electoral Area “H”
• Farleigh Lake Road in Electoral Area “I”

All Evacuation Alerts issued by the District of Summerland are rescinded as of August 24, 2026, at 4:00 pm, EXCEPT for the listed properties which remain on EVACUATION ORDER. Click here to view the notice and listed properties which remain on Evacuation Order.

Faulder Water System

• Some electrical and communications equipment serving the Faulder Water System was damaged during the Bald Range Wildfire, and the system is currently not operational.
• Water system operators are actively assessing the affected infrastructure to determine the extent of the damage and identify the work required to restore service.
• Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Residents returning to the area are encouraged to review the re-entry guide for important information and resources, including:

• Checking your property for potential hazards
• Next steps if you have a well or private water system
• Safe disposal of food and damaged appliances
• Accessing available support services and recovery information

Important reminders

• Recovery operations remain ongoing throughout the area.
• Smoke and reduced air quality may still occur.
• Spot fires may also occur. If you see a wildfire, please report it to 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 on a cellphone.
• Residents may encounter emergency personnel, utility crews, and recovery teams working in the community.

Please note that Faulder remains under an Evacuation Order. Access restrictions remain in place, and only authorized personnel and approved permit holders may enter the area. Security personnel will remain in the Faulder area to support access restrictions and protect the community. Food, fridge, and freezer disposal
The District of Summerland is providing a free drop-off location at the Dale Meadows Sports Field gravel parking lot from Tuesday, August 25 to Saturday, August 29, 2026. Hours will be 8:30 am to 4:15 pm. All food waste, debris, and other contents must be removed before appliances can be accepted.

Summerland Recovery Centre
Residents affected by recent emergency events can access information, resources, and recovery support at the Summerland Recovery Centre. The centre is located on the second floor of the George Ryga Arts and Cultural Centre (9525 Wharton Street) and is open daily from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Please note that the hours for the Recovery Information Centre for Tuesday, August 25 and Wednesday, August 26 are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Be aware of scams or fraudulent activity

Remain vigilant and be aware of potential scams or fraudulent activity during the wildfire response and recovery process.

• Be cautious of unsolicited phone calls, emails, text messages, or social media messages requesting personal or financial information.
• Do not provide banking, credit card, or other sensitive information to unknown individuals or organizations.
• Verify the identity of anyone requesting donations, payments, or access to your property.
• If you receive suspicious communications, do not engage and report the incident to the RCMP Non-Emergency Line.
• If something does not seem right, take the time to verify the information before responding.
