INFORMATION RELEASE

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) extends its sincere appreciation to the Emergency Support Services (ESS) volunteers from Keremeos, Penticton, Princeton, and Summerland, along with RDOS staff, who are assisting with the response to the Bradley Creek Wildfire (K41351).

These dedicated individuals are supporting the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO), working in partnership with the snpink’tn Indian Band (Penticton Indian Band) and the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO). ESS volunteers and staff are working together to provide essential services and support to residents displaced by the wildfire affecting the Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB) and surrounding communities.

ESS volunteers play a critical role in supporting individuals and families affected by emergencies by connecting them with essential services, resources, and information. Their compassion, professionalism, and commitment provide comfort and stability during times of displacement and uncertainty.

“The strength of our region is demonstrated by the way communities come together to support one another during times of need,” said RDOS Board Chair Pendergraft. "The efforts of First Nations, local governments, and volunteers, exemplify the spirit of partnership that helps communities recover and remain resilient."

In addition to ESS support, several RDOS and municipal fire departments throughout the South Okanagan are assisting BC Wildfire Service by providing Structural Protection resources to help safeguard communities threatened by wildfire activity.
