The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is honoured to acknowledge Fire Chief Jody Woodford, Tulameen & District Volunteer Fire Department, who has received two awards recognizing her service to the community. Fire Chief Woodford received the Governor General’s award and medal for Exemplary Service of 20 Years and a Provincial Office of the Fire Commissioner BC Long Service Award for 25 years of service.
“These awards reflect the exceptional dedication Fire Chief Jody Woodford demonstrates in serving the community,” said Mark Pendergraft, RDOS chair. “She is widely recognized by colleagues and community members alike as a valued leader who consistently goes above and beyond.”
The Exemplary Service and BC Long Service awards were presented during a community dinner on Thursday, May 14, 2026. The event brought together members of the community, including firefighters, friends, and family. Bob Coyne, Area “H” director, was also in attendance, joined by Deborah Jones-Middleton, RDOS senior manager of protective services, and Tony Iannella, RDOS manager of regional fire services.
“Fire Chief Woodford’s contributions to Tulameen, Coalmont, and the broader region extend well beyond her official duties,” said Bob Coyne, Area “H” director. “She is a trusted professional who can always be relied upon—both in times of need and throughout the year.”
Jody Woodford continues to serve the communities of Tulameen and Coalmont and is a valued member of the RDOS management team. She is now in her 28th year of dedicated service with the Tulameen & District Volunteer Fire Department.
