INFORMATION RELEASE 

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) Board of Directors has approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Naramata Centre Society to explore the potential future use of McLaren Hall in Electoral Area “E” (Naramata).

This collaborative approach will help the RDOS and the Naramata Centre Society explore opportunities that may provide long-term community benefits while supporting informed discussions and decision-making.

The MOU is exploratory in nature and is intended to guide further evaluation and dialogue between the RDOS and the Naramata Centre Society. It does not commit either organization to a specific project, property acquisition, or future agreement. Rather, it establishes a framework for assessing whether opportunities related to McLaren Hall and the surrounding property could provide value to the community and align with the interests of both organizations.

Before any future decision can be considered, additional work would be required to assess feasibility and community benefit. This work could include building condition assessments, evaluation of potential upgrade requirements, cost estimates, concept development, design planning, further discussions between the parties, and opportunities for public engagement. Any future proposal would be subject to separate RDOS Board consideration and approval through a public decision-making process.

The RDOS emphasizes that no decisions have been made regarding the future ownership, redevelopment, or use of McLaren Hall. The purpose of the MOU is to provide a framework for continued exploration and evaluation of potential opportunities and to determine whether a mutually beneficial arrangement may be possible.

Should a future proposal involve borrowing funds, public approval would be required in accordance with legislative requirements. The RDOS will keep the community informed as the exploratory work progresses and if future stages require Board consideration or public engagement.
