Lakeshore Waterworks & Vintage Views Sewer Systems timeline update

News Article

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) has received numerous enquiries looking for an update on the acquisition process for the Vintage Views Sewer system and Lakeshore Waterworks system, and if the engineering and financial reports are completed. These reports are a key first step outlined in the acquisition policy in assessing whether the RDOS will continue with the acquisition of a utility.

There are several outstanding tasks that have delayed the completion of the reports and calculations of all proposed costs to the ratepayers. The utility acquisition process is complex and challenging to ensure all information has been evaluated and considered. Some items have taken longer to assess than anticipated. Completion of the pending items is expected soon and reports should be finished by the end of January.

Based on unexpected delays, Liisa Bloomfield, RDOS Senior Manager of Utilities is postponing the presentation to the RDOS Board of Directors until Thursday, February 8, 2024. At that time, information gathered to date will be presented to the RDOS Board for discussion, including any outstanding issues and next steps of the acquisition process.

The assessment reports will be available after the presentation to the RDOS Board on February 8, 2024, through links on the project page of the RDOS Regional Connections website: Vintage Views Sewer & Lakeshore Water Acquisition Process | RDOS Regional Connections.
