Tree Fruit Pest Control

To protect the commercial fruit industry in the South Okanagan and Similkameen, the RDOS. has renewed its Noxious and Destructive Insect and Pest Control Bylaw,  to better control tree fruit pests, infestations and related pests in Electoral Areas A,B,C,D,E,F,G and the Town of Oliver.

Fruit bearing tree and shrub owners are responsible for controlling pests on their properties. It is very important that these pests are prevented from affecting nearby neighbours and professional growers.

The RDOS has dedicated staff members to follow up on complaints of pest infestations by first verifying the infestation, then informing property owners of their obligations under the bylaw and ensuring their compliance.

Acceptable pest control methods are available at the British Columbia Ministry of Agriculture website.
