Tipping fees updated at all RDOS landfills effective May 1, 2026

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is reminding residents and commercial users that tipping fees for some materials will change at all RDOS landfill facilities, effective Friday, May 1, 2026.
The updated fees will apply at the following RDOS-operated sites:
- Campbell Mountain Landfill
- Oliver Landfill
- Okanagan Falls Landfill
- Keremeos Transfer Station
The fee changes are included in the RDOS Fees and Charges Bylaw No. 3128, 2026, which was adopted by the RDOS Board of Directors on March 5, 2026. The full Fees and Charges Bylaw, including all landfill tipping fees effective May 1, 2026, is available on the RDOS website.
Notable tipping fee increases:
- Refuse with no recyclables: from $120 to $125 per tonne
- Mattress or box spring: from $17.50 to $19.00 per unit
- Glass containers (commercial volumes, clean and empty): changed from no charge to $60 per tonne
- Corrugated cardboard (ICI): from $120 to $125 per tonne
- Gypsum board (assessed, new, or non-recyclable): from $120 to $125 per tonne
- Glass sheet: from $120 to $125 per tonne
- Sludge screenings from municipal sewage treatment plants: increased from $120 to $125 per tonne
Mixed loads and higher contamination charges
Higher rates will apply to mixed loads and loads that include refuse or prohibited materials. These changes are intended to encourage proper sorting and reduce contamination.
Key increases include:
- Construction mixed loads – in-service area:
- From $120 to $125 per tonne when accepted at the Okanagan Falls sorting facility
- $500 per tonne if the load contains refuse
- Construction mixed loads – non-service area:
- From $145 to $175 per tonne when accepted at the Okanagan Falls sorting facility
- $700 per tonne if the load contains refuse
- Demolition and renovation mixed loads (assessed):
- In-service area: from $120 to $125 per tonne when accepted at the Okanagan Falls sorting facility, or $500 per tonne otherwise
- Non-service area: from $145 to $175 per tonne, or $700 per tonne otherwise
- Demolition and renovation mixed loads (non-assessed):
- From $500 to $700 per tonne
- Prohibited waste: from $500 to $700 per tonne
In addition, any refuse deposited at the active face or refuse bins that contains controlled waste or recyclable materials will be charged at $500 per tonne, or three times the highest applicable material rate in the load, whichever is greater. This fee was previously $360 per tonne.

RDOS Fees and Charges Bylaw
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen Fees and Charges Bylaw No. 3128, 2026, was read a first time at the Thursday, February 5, 2026, meeting of the RDOS Board of Directors. Bylaw No. 3128, 2026, was read a second time, as amended, and read a third time and adopted at the Thursday, March 5, 2026, meeting of the RDOS Board of Directors. The RDOS Board establishes fees and charges for various Regional District services and information. The Fees and Charges Bylaw is posted annually on the RDOS website.
