7th Avenue watermain upgrades in Okanagan Falls

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) will be upgrading water infrastructure along 7th Avenue in Okanagan Falls starting September 8, through to mid-October 2025. This important project will improve water service reliability, fire protection, and water quality for local homes and businesses.
Project details
- Location: 7th Avenue between Cedar Street and Main Street, Okanagan Falls
- Hours of work: Weekdays, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Works to be completed:
- Installation of approximately 300 metres of 250mm watermain
- Installation of two (2) new fire hydrants
- Replacement of aging watermain and residential service connections
- Temporary and permanent road surface reinstatement
“The upcoming watermain upgrades along 7th Avenue are a vital investment in the infrastructure of Okanagan Falls,” said Matt Taylor, Electoral Area “D” director. “The community’s patience and attention to safety during construction is appreciated.”
To ensure public and worker safety, the following traffic management measures will be in place throughout the construction period:
- Single-lane closure northbound on Cedar Street between 8th Avenue and 7th Avenue
- Eastbound single-lane closures on 7th Avenue from Cedar Street to Main Street
- Detour route via 8th Avenue between Cedar Street and Main Street
- Temporary stop sign installation at 7th Avenue and Main Street
- Parking will not be available along 7th Avenue
- Local traffic and emergency vehicle access will be maintained
- Detour routes will be clearly marked and managed by trained traffic personnel
Pedestrian access
- Temporary pedestrian crossing closures or rerouting may occur near Kenyon Park and Christie Memorial Park
- Safe access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times; temporary delays may occur
Water service interruptions
Short-term water service interruptions may occur during specific phases of construction. Impacted properties will receive advance notice with the date and time of any planned disruptions. Every effort will be made to minimize service interruptions.
