June is Pride month
News ArticleJune is internationally recognized as Pride month. To celebrate and acknowledge Pride month, the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is displaying the South Okanagan Similkameen Pride logo at the front entrance of the Regional District office at 101 Martin Street in Penticton. In addition, Regional District staff are preparing a report around plans to further acknowledge Pride month in 2022. This includes revisiting the RDOS Official Recognition Policy.
“All RDOS facilities, parks and trails are inclusive, safe spaces,” says RDOS Chair Karla Kozakevich. “By showing support to queer, trans, and Two-Spirit people we are helping create a positive and resilient community.” There are many ways to celebrate Pride month as a community, according to the South Okanagan Similkameen Pride Society including hanging a Pride flag, making a donation to a local LGBTQ2S+ organization or youth group, or volunteering your time.
