EOC Update: Rising waters in Tulameen area Sunday Nov. 28, 2021 3:45 pm

News Article

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen Emergency Operations Centre (RDOS EOC) is advising anyone remaining within an Evacuation Order zone in the Tulameen area of Electoral Area H to leave their properties immediately.

The River Forecast Centre has issued a Flood Watch advisory for the Tulameen River and rising water levels mean it may exceed bankfull with the potential to further impact homes, roads and other infrastructure. A flood warning may be imminent, and any residents that are still remaining within the Evacuation Order zone should evacuate.

Residents within the Evacuation Alert area of Tulameen and Coalmont should be prepared to leave their properties in a moment’s notice. If river levels continue to rise, seek out higher ground. The Evacuation Alert may be upgraded to an Evacuation Order at any time, and you should be prepared to leave your property immediately.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) is monitoring roads and highways in the area with updates available on drivebc.ca. Do not attempt to travel on water-covered or backcountry roads. Stay clear of fast-flowing rivers and other waterways, as well as potentially unstable riverbanks.
