Faulder Water System Information Meeting February 2, 2016
The End of a Long Journey...
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen will be hosting an information meeting to discuss the Faulder Water System Upgrades and the new Faulder well.
Presentations from February 2, 2016 Information Meeting Faulder Water System Upgrades:
Engineering Projects and Updates:
The Regional District has been working hard to complete the required upgrades to the Faulder Water System. A large portion has now been completed, including the drilling of the new well and the majority of the interconnecting piping to join the new well to the existing water system. The uranium treatment system design is complete and the unit is currently being manufactured.
Other than the new well, the Faulder Water System will soon have a uranium treatment system to remove the excess uranium found in the water and a back-up generator for use during power outages.
What is happening next:
- Due to design changes the uranium treatment system delivery has been rescheduled for January 2016, at which time it will be installed beside the existing pump house.
- Construction is expected to be completed by the end of November 2015.
- Once all the upgrades have been installed the Regional District will test the water over a period of approximately 1 - 2 months to ensure the uranium level is below the Health Canada Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality and upon approval from Interior Health, the Water Quality Advisory will be lifted.
