Land Use Bylaw Repeal & Re-enactment Process
At its meeting of November 6, 2008, the Board of the Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen adopted an Official Community Plan (OCP) and Zoning Bylaw for each Electoral Area (other than Electoral Area 'B') within the Regional District.
The purpose of this initiative was two-fold. First, it sought to address a previous deficiency in the process related to the adoption of bylaws that involves a procedural defect of failing to obtain ministerial approval for various Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw amendments.
In addition, the process also sought to make the bylaws more accessible to the general public by introducing consistency for language, layout and presentation; update references to provincial ministries / agencies; create uniform land use designations; and set up standardized sections throughout the bylaws.
Copies of the new Bylaws are now available here
