EOC Update: Similkameen River, donations, and large item removal

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen Emergency Operations Centre (RDOS EOC) is advising residents to be aware of potential flooding. Based on available information, including weather advisories, areas prone to flooding may flood again as the weather changes.

Evacuation Alert issued for a specified area along the Similkameen River in Electoral Area H
An Evacuation Alert has been issued by the RDOS due to the potential danger to life, health, and property damage, the RDOS has issued an Evacuation Alert for a specified are along the Similkameen River south east of Princeton in Electoral Area H.

An Evacuation Alert prepares residents to evacuate the area should an Evacuation Order be issued. As much advance notice as possible will be provided prior to an Evacuation Order, however you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.

Tulameen and Coalmont
Residents remaining in homes impacted by flooding are reminded to check in at the Tulameen and District Fire Hall. Crews continue to undertake repair work on Tulameen River Road and Coalmont Road, north of Otter Lake. Sand and sandbags are available at the Tulameen and District Fire Hall.

Manning Park, Eastgate and San Ang Way
Rapid Damage Assessment are being conducted in the area November 25, 2021.Sand and sandbags are available at the Eastgate Fire Hall and San Ang Way at the corner of Taylor Way, east of Princeton.

In the case of an emergency or danger to life and safety, please call 9-1-1 immediately.

Emergency Support Services (ESS)
If your property is under Evacuation Alert or Order due to flooding, self-register with Emergency Support Services (ESS) at ess.gov.bc.ca to report that you have safely left the area or call 1-833-498-3770.

By registering, you will be eligible for emergency shelter and food if you have not made other arrangements.

Please be advised, ESS is working toward contacting individuals within 24-48 hours.

Large item removal
If you are disposing of appliances damaged by flooding, please ensure items inside (such as food in fridges), are removed and disposed of separately.
