RDOS launches survey for Naramata Liquid Waste Management Plan

News Article

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) will be developing a Liquid Waste (sewage) Management Plan (LWMP) for the community of Naramata, specifically the village area. The plan will focus on protecting public health and the surrounding environment, especially Okanagan Lake.

 Main goals of the LWMP

  • Publicly supported plan
  • Cost-effective wastewater treatment
  • Health and environmental protection
  • Water and energy conservation
  • Limit Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions

The RDOS has created a Story Map to provide information and updates throughout the LWMP process. Story Maps are a web-based tool that uses a digital storytelling format to present the LWMP. To access the LWMP Story Map and complete a related survey, please click here. The Regional district will be collecting responses until July 25, 2021.

“This survey is an important step in the community engagement process,” says RDOS Chair and Electoral Area “E” Director Karla Kozakevich. “Feedback from residents will help ensure the plan meets today’s requirements for wastewater treatment and environmental protection, and also considers proposed future development.” The last LWMP was created in 1993.
