Shaping the future of regional parks, trails and recreation

News Article

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is preparing the Parks, Trails and Recreation Master Plan (PTR Master Plan). You’re invited to participate in a survey that will help shape the future of parks, trails, and recreational activities and spaces in the region.

Survey results will inform the PTR Master Plan to ensure the right mix of facilities and programs are provided while also protecting environmentally sensitive areas. The PTR Master Plan will also serve as a guiding document for corporate decision-making over the next ten years.

“The RDOS is encouraging you to take a few moments to complete the survey to provide feedback on programs, services and amenities that are important to you,” says RDOS Chair Karla Kozakevich. “This information will help the Regional District identify key areas in the plan, which is why it is crucial to hear from all communities and age groups.”

The information gathered through the survey will help the Regional District understand what you currently value and would like to see developed as a clear vision for the future of parks, trails and recreation services across the Regional District.

The RDOS will be inviting Indigenous communities and a variety of community partners and organizations to take part in virtual meetings and workshops in the coming weeks. The public engagement process launches today and runs until May 15, 2021.

The PTR Master Plan assist RDOS Recreation’s goal of supporting healthy individuals and communities across the region. Parks, trails and recreation facilities and programs are essential to quality of life, the protection of our natural environment, strengthening our economy and the overall health of our communities
