Naramata washrooms re-open after blockage removed

News Article

The public washrooms at Manitou Park in Electoral Area E (Naramata), are open following misuse of the new facility. The washrooms, which are maintained by the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS), were closed on January 5, 2022, due the flushing of garbage, resulting in an extensive sewer blockage.

Prolonged cold temperatures caused the blockage in the pipes to freeze. During the recent period of warmer weather, the blockage thawed and was removed.

Residents and other park visitors are reminded to follow appropriate use of the washroom facility, as indicated by signage in the building. If the washrooms require attention or if you discover vandalism, please contact the RDOS by email at parks@rdos.bc.ca.

Park users are encouraged to report acts of vandalism in progress to the RCMP by calling the non-emergency telephone number at 250-492-4300.
