The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is hosting a public information meeting at the Hedley Community Club on Wednesday, November 10 between 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. The Regional District is looking for input to help prioritize a one-time cleanup of derelict vehicles, sheds and refuse on Crown land surrounding the homes of Hedley residents.

“The RDOS heard from Hedley residents that they want to see a cleaner community,” says Electoral Area G Director Tim Roberts. “This summer, Regional District staff mapped and identified the scope of the waste and worked with the provincial government and RCMP on the best approach for a one-time removal and disposal. The RDOS is now looking for feedback from the community on whether to proceed with the cleanup next spring.”

The public information meeting is an opportunity for Hedley residents and property owners to share their thoughts on the proposed cleanup, review the maps and identify their priorities. RDOS staff, including Public Works Manager of Operations Andrew Reeder, will be on-site to answer questions. Presentations are scheduled to take place at 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm.

This public information meeting will comply with COVID-19 protocols. The presentation and maps will be available here after the meeting.

A feedback survey is being sent to residents and property owners via regular mail. The survey can be returned by mail or dropped off at the Hedley Improvement District office located at 825 Scott Avenue, adjacent to the Hedley Volunteer Fire Department.
