Dog Control Amendment Bylaw Introduces Non-Expiring Tags

News Article

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is now offering non-expiring tags for dog owners throughout Electoral Areas “A”, “B”, “C”, “D”, “E”, “F”, “G” and “I”.

On February 18, 2021, the RDOS Board of Directors resolved to support non-expiring dog tags by amending Dog Control Bylaw No. 2671. This amendment means dog owners will be able to renew their licences annually without having to replace the physical tag each year.

“This amendment improves the convenience of renewing dog licences for residents,” says RDOS Chair Karla Kozakevich. “It is also an environmentally friendly alternative. Instead of having to affix a new tag and dispose of the old one, you can renew and pay for the licence online and keep the same tag.”

Dog licences are valid January 1 to December 31 of each calendar year. Owners are responsible for ensuring their dog licence is current and paid in full, and licence holders will be provided reminder renewal notices.

In the event the tag is lost, damaged or destroyed, replacement tags are available for purchase.
