Mental health and wellness
The RDOS understands this is a difficult time for those experiencing hardships caused by flooding. If you or someone you know would like to speak with a health professional, please call the BC Mental Health Support Line at 310-6789 (no area code). Free and available 24 hours a day.

Culverts and road access
Due to snow accumulation in many areas, it may be difficult to inspect culverts at this time of year. Culvert inspections take place annually ahead of snowmelt and spring freshet. Culverts determined to be high priority are inspected more often.

Winter conditions
The Province of BC is urging everyone to prepare for extremely cold temperatures, power outages, and slick roads. A series of strong storms are expected to bring periods of heavy and blowing snow, freezing rain, and very cold weather over the next several days.

This may include damage to key support elements that will require a more in-depth review by a structural and/or geotechnical engineer to determine that the home is safe to enter. Each situation will have unique requirements.
