RDOS General Local Election Candidate Nomination packages now available

INFORMATION RELEASE

Electoral Area Director nomination packages are now available at rdosregionalconnections.ca or at the RDOS Office at 101 Martin Street, Penticton for those interested in running as a candidate. Nominations can be submitted between August 30, 2022, at 9:00 am and September 9, 2022, at 4:00 pm. The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) 2022 General Local Elections will be held on October 15, 2022. 

The RDOS consists of nine Electoral Areas and six-member municipalities. Every four years, the RDOS conducts general local elections to elect a Director to represent each of its Electoral Areas.  

RDOS electoral areas include:

  • Electoral Area “A” Osoyoos Rural
  • Electoral Area “B” Cawston
  • Electoral Area “C” Oliver Rural
  • Electoral Area “D” Skaha East/Okanagan Falls
  • Electoral Area “E” Naramata
  • Electoral Area “F” Okanagan Lake West/West Bench
  • Electoral Area “G” Keremeos Rural/Hedley
  • Electoral Area “H” Princeton Rural
  • Electoral Area “I” Skaha West/Kaleden/Apex

To be eligible to run for office, you must:

  • be 18 years of age or older on general voting day
  • be a Canadian Citizen
  • have been a resident of British Columbia for at least six months immediately before filing nomination documents
  • not be disqualified under the Local Government Act, or any other enactment from voting in an election in B.C. or from being nominated for, being elected to or holding the office, or be otherwise disqualified by law
