FireSmart Information and Chipping Event - West Bench

Times: 10:00am – 1:00pm
Description:

Being FireSmart is our shared responsibility and we all have a role to play in reducing the wildfire threat to our homes. Neighbours are encouraged to work together to limb, trim, rake, thin, and haul, flammable debris to the chipper for disposal.

The chipper will roam the neighbourhood to chip yard debris. Advanced registration is required, please contact margaretholm@shaw.ca by October 22.

The information session will be held 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at West Bench Elementary School.

  • Remove flammable coniferous shrubs and hedges, keep them at least a 10 metre radius from your home
  • Remove flammable ground cover such as bark and wood chips, keep them at least a 2 metre radius from your home
  • Store propane tanks and wood piles at least 10 metres away from your home
