FireSmart Chipping Day: Heritage Hills/Lakeshore Highlands
June 12, 2021
Times: 10:00am – 2:30pm
Description:

Being FireSmart is our shared responsibility and we all have a role to play in reducing the wildfire threat to our homes. Neighbours are encouraged to work together to limb, trim, rake, thin and haul flammable debris to the chipper and bin for disposal.

The chipper and bin will be located at the Vintage Boulevard entrance to Garnett Family Park from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm on June 12th.

Changes made to the area closest to your home will have the greatest impact on reducing the risk of wildfire damage:

• Remove flammable coniferous shrubs and hedges: ten metre radius around your home
• Remove flammable ground cover such as bark and wood chips: two metre radius
• Practice safe grass management during wildfire season: cut cured grass in June
• Follow FireSmart landscaping principles
• Store propane tanks and wood piles at least ten metres away from the home
