On September 23, 2021, the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) began consultation on the Alternative Approval Process (AAP) for the Electoral Area G Cemetery Contribution Service, and the AAP for the Oliver and District Arena Loan Authorization. The deadline for elector response for both AAPs was December 6, 2021. The results of this process were presented to the RDOS Board of Directors during the December 16, 2021 Board meeting.

Electoral Area G Cemetery Operations Contribution Service

Electoral Area G currently contributes up to a maximum of $2,000 to the Keremeos Cemetery. By creating a new service through a service establishment bylaw, funds may be directed to all established and operating cemeteries created under the Cremation, Interment and Funeral Services Act within Electoral Area G.

Oliver and District Arena Loan Authorization

Key components of the facility have reached the end of service life. The facility is also not barrier-free compliant and several upgrades are required to meet accessibility standards.

Electoral Area C and the Town of Oliver participate in a shared service to fund the operation and maintenance of this facility, and the purpose of the loan authorization bylaw is to borrow money to fund the required upgrades to the Oliver and District Arena.

Adoption

These results of both AAPs were presented to the RDOS Board of Directors as part of the Board meeting agenda and the respective bylaws were subsequently adopted on December 16, 2021.
