RDOS volunteer focus | Blandine Baritaud

News Article

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is shining a spotlight on February’s volunteer of the month, Blandine Baritaud from Electoral Area “G”. Blandine, who has been in the region for one and a half years, believes strongly that physical exercise is not just good for the body but also the mind.

When the Similkameen Recreation Centre was looking for volunteers to extend its operating hours for fitness rooms, Blandine volunteered as a gym attendant. Her role includes checking people in, ensuring COVID-19 protocols are being followed and sanitizing equipment. Blandine does all of this while maintaining a smile on her face and a bubbly personality. “Keeping the recreation centre open is vital during the pandemic,” says Blandine who also volunteers at the local soup kitchen. “Volunteerism is the engine that drives community,” says Area “G” Director Tim Roberts.

Blandine loves meeting new people and says the committed people who come into the facility inspire her. Thank you for supporting your community Blandine. The Similkameen Recreation Centre is grateful for your time and also for the lovely treats you supply on occasion. Volunteerism plays a critical role in helping the RDOS to support “healthy individuals and communities”.
