RDOS transitions from CivicReady to Voyent Alert! mass notification system - December 2021
The CivicReady mass notification system used by the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) will no longer be able to support its Canadian clients or continue to maintain a Canadian database, as of November 2021. Once the current contract with CivicReady expires at the end of November 2021, the RDOS will be transitioning to the Canadian-based company Voyent Alert!
CivicReady users will be sent reminder notifications prior to the change in service providers. RDOS staff will be available by telephone to assist with the transition process and answer questions about the new system.
To ensure a smooth transition, please sign in to your CivicReady account (https://rdos.ca.regroup.com/login) and confirm the primary telephone number and primary address of the property you are receiving alerts for.
Voyent Alert! uses geo-targeted technology to pinpoint exact properties, rather than notifying the entire Electoral Area.
Community Events: RDOS events in your area including town hall and open house meetings and workshops.
Garbage and Recycling: Changes or concerns about garbage, recycling or yard waste collection and large item pickup from rural RDOS properties.
Emergency Notifications: Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) updates: evacuation alerts, orders and rescinds, as well as information about sandbag locations, wildfires, and Emergency Support Services (ESS).
Land Use Changes: Bylaw Amendment (rezoning) applications, Official Community Plan reviews and regional initiatives in your area. Notifications will include dates for public information meetings, Advisory Planning Commission meetings and public hearings.
Landfills and Recycling: Programs and changes at all RDOS landfills including Campbell Mountain (Penticton), Oliver, Okanagan Falls and Keremeos. Receive notifications about new recycling programs at landfills and businesses in your community.
Regional Recreation: Sign up to learn when the Recreation Guide is available, when the Physical Activity Trail (PAT) is in your neighbourhood, general recreation and fitness programs and special events.
RDOS Sewer Systems: Alerts directly affecting RDOS owned and managed sewer systems and users such as system upgrades or construction, maintenance, cleaning, flushing, system issues, or meetings. (Okanagan Falls Treatment Plant, Gallagher Lake Sewer)
RDOS Water Systems: Water Quality Advisories, Boil Water Notices, system upgrades or construction, maintenance related water disruptions, watering restrictions, system issues, or meetings. (Faulder, Naramata, Sage Mesa, Sun Valley, Olalla, West Bench and Willowbrook).
