Community Services


The Community Services Department provides a variety of programs and services throughout the Region including support to various community groups that deliver RDOS initiatives.  The Community Services Department Functions include:



1.       Regional Emergency Management Program

    • Responsible for emergency planning , response and recovery

2.       Fire and Rescue Service 

    •  7 RDOS Volunteer Fire Departments
    • Approximately 150 Volunteer Fire Fighters

3.       9-1-1 Emergency Dispatch Services


4.       Parks, Trails, Recreation and Leisure Services

    •  8 RDOS Board appointed Commissions and 2 Service Contracts
    •  Approximately 60 Volunteers
    •  RDOS Click, Hike & Bike(TM) Trail information database that provides you with a wealth of information and online maps on over 150 existing trails.

5.       Regional Parks

    • Swimming, sandy beaches, hiking trails, historic sites, picnic areas, and baseballs diamonds and provide unique topography, flora and fauna.

6.       RDOS owns and maintains community assets that consist of:

    • Community Facilities / Halls, Swimming Pools, Playgrounds, Tennis Courts, Riding Stable, Skate Board Parks, Ball Fields, and Libraries
