The Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) comprises 10,400 sq. km. It includes: Manning Provincial Park, Apex Mountain Ski Resort, Cathedral Provincial Park, and the communities of Penticton, Summerland, Okanagan Falls, Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos, Princeton and Naramata.

 

Within the Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen there is an increasing recreational use of former railway rights-of-way. The route of the Kettle Valley Railway has become a popular destination for hiking, cycling, horseback riding, cross country skiing and snowmobiling. Highlights of the KVR include stunning vistas, an easy gradient and unique topography. Exceptionally diverse, the trails traverse ranchlands, riverbanks, lakes, tunnels, trestles, desert, orchards and vineyards. The RDOS is proud to help support the KVR Rail Trail. We encourage both local residents and visitors to enjoy it, and to preserve it for generations to come.

 

Since the day it was launched in 2003, the Click, Hike & BikeTM page has been one of the most popular pages on the RDOS website. In 2006 trails database and maps were updated to include changes, new trails, and new internet mapping technology.

 

The internet mapping site allows users to zoom into any area of the RDOS, view trails on an aerial photo base, and obtain detailed descriptions on key sections and access points. A new function gives users the ability to interactively measure how far they have travelled.
