Demolition, Renovation and Construction Waste
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen has developed a Demolition, Renovation and Construction (DRC) waste sort facility at the Okanagan Falls Landfill. This facility sorts mixed building materials into recyclable and compostable components such as gypsum, wood, metal, concrete, masonry and asphalt.
In order to receive mixed demolition and renovation waste for sorting, WorkSafe BC regulations require that a hazard assessment must be done to the building or structure before demolition or renovation. If hazardous materials are found then these materials must be abated.

- The RDOS Demolition/Renovation Disposal Application is only applicable for mixed demolition and construction materials coming to an RDOS managed landfill. The Osoyoos, Summerland and Princeton Landfills are managed by their respective municipalities and they may require different procedures to accept waste.
- Separated and clean lumber, metal, gypsum, concrete, asphalt and masonry brought source separated to any RDOS landfill will not require hazard assessments if clean of contaminates.
- Please allow 5 business days from when a Demolition/Renovation Disposal Application is submitted to when a clearance document is provided. Each load/truck that comes to the facility will require its own copy of the clearance document.
