Regional Water Updates – 2017

Summary of the Proposed:

  • Regional Water Use Regulation & Conservation Bylaw
  • Regional Water Conservation Strategy
  • Cross Connection Control Bylaw

The Regional District is currently creating a district-wide Regional Water Use Regulation and Conservation Bylaw, Cross Connection Control Bylaw and Regional Water Conservation Strategy specific for the Okanagan-Similkameen.

The documents are intended to unify water use standards, conservation strategies and cross connection control within the Regional District owned and operated water systems.

These documents  are focusing on water conservation/efficiency and sustainable water management, integration of extreme weather (e.g. drought and flooding) management recommendations, inclusion of climate change and consistent interpretation of the appropriate regulations.

The Regional District is hosting six summary Information Meetings to inform and educate the Regional District Users on the proposed bylaws and strategy.
