Regional Water Updates – 2017
Summary of the Proposed:
- Regional Water Use Regulation & Conservation Bylaw
- Regional Water Conservation Strategy
- Cross Connection Control Bylaw
The Regional District is currently creating a district-wide Regional Water Use Regulation and Conservation Bylaw, Cross Connection Control Bylaw and Regional Water Conservation Strategy specific for the Okanagan-Similkameen.
The documents are intended to unify water use standards, conservation strategies and cross connection control within the Regional District owned and operated water systems.
These documents are focusing on water conservation/efficiency and sustainable water management, integration of extreme weather (e.g. drought and flooding) management recommendations, inclusion of climate change and consistent interpretation of the appropriate regulations.
The Regional District is hosting six summary Information Meetings to inform and educate the Regional District Users on the proposed bylaws and strategy.

Please Note: Sage Mesa Water Users have been invited to the Thursday, October 26, 2017 meeting as an informational opportunity. Sage Mesa Water is operated, but not owned, by the Regional District and as such the bylaws and strategy will not apply to Sage Mesa Water Users. However, the material being presented will be informative of good standard practices and may be of interest to the Sage Mesa Residents.
Below is the information that will be presented at the Information Meetings for those Regional District Water Users who are unable to attend a meeting or would like to review the material prior to arrival.
