2017 Naramata Water System Rehabilitation Project

The Regional District of Okanagan‐Similkameen is continuing its efforts to rehabilitate and upgrade aging water infrastructure in Regional District owned community water systems. Several sections of pipe, merged into three areas, have been identified as high priority when factors such as remaining life expectancy, impact to the overall system, number of connections, and recent leakage events were examined. The Regional District applied for and received a Clean Water and Wastewater Fund grant (CWWF) to complete these works.

Ecora Engineering & Resource Group Ltd. (Ecora), based in Penticton, has been contracted to complete the engineered drawings, tendering, construction administration and inspection services.

The CWWF Grant rehabilitation work for the Naramata Water System has begun. Construction is occurring on the following Roads – Hayman Road, Lower Debeck Road (west end), Juniper Road (near reservoir), Naramata Road (between Gawne Road and Arawana Road), McPhee Road, Sammet Road, Littlejohn Road and Hyde Road. The CWWF grant requires that the watermain replacements be completed by March 31, 2018 as such construction work will be occurring over the next several months and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017.

Residents will be seeing more of the Regional District, Ecora and the project specific contractors around Naramata as the construction progresses.

Any residents directly affected by the construction activities will be contacted by the contractors to discuss
the upcoming activities and any inconvenience that may occur. The public is reminded to be cautious and not to enter into the active construction areas. Safety of the public, as well as all the workers on site, is of paramount importance.

The RDOS would like to thank the residents and businesses for their cooperation, patience and understanding during the rehabilitation of their water system.

Naramata Water Meters:

The Naramata Water Meter Pilot Program is now complete. The meters are a great tool for Naramata enabling everyone who had a meter installed to see just how much water they are using and the RDOS to ensure enough water will be reserved for times of need. A total of 115 water meters have been installed (36 commercial/winery, 44 agricultural and 35 residential).

Thank you to everyone for their cooperation.
